Healing of Memories Workshop for Arizona Veterans and First Responders, November 3-5, 2017

The Healing of Memories Workshop is returning to the Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center in Carefree to for Veterans and First Responders on November 3-5, 2017. The workshop has been conducted for over 160 Arizona veterans during the last three years and is now being made available to both veterans and first responders (police, sheriff, fire and EMS personnel) who, like veterans, often suffer from the memories of their experiences on the front lines. The workshop is offered free to veterans and retired first responders. It is offered at a discounted fee of $195 (shared room) or $245 (single room for employed first responders. Scholarships are available for anyone for whom the cost is a barrier. The workshop fee includes all meals and two nights lodging. It begins with dinner at 6pm on Friday, November 3 and ends at 2pm on Sunday, November 5.

The Healing of Memories Workshop was created by Father Michael Lapsley, an Anglican missionary priest, who in 1990 suffered the loss of his hands and the sight in one eye from a letter bomb that was sent to him in Zimbabwe by a supporter of the pro-apartheid government in South Africa. After a long recovery from the bombing, Father Lapsley decided to dedicate his life to helping victims of emotional, psychological and spiritual wounds inflicted by war, human rights abuses and other traumatic circumstances.

Veterans and First responders may find out more information about the workshop by contacting Mike Wold at michael_w_wold@msn.com or calling (651) 687-9767. They may register by calling Cyndy at (480) 488-5218. Space is limited to the first 20 first people who register.
